How to use it
- Enter the complete starting URL for the redirect path.
- Select Check to let the server follow redirects.
- Confirm the starting address under Target Evaluated.
- Read Redirects and Final Destination URL for the chain summary.
- Inspect the final status and headers, then use Copy Result.
The page counts redirects but does not show each hop. Its synthetic browser fallback cannot confirm a real chain.
What is the purpose of the tool
Redirect Chain Checker follows a submitted URL through the server's redirect handling and reports where it ends. It helps identify an unexpectedly long route or wrong final destination.
The server limit is five redirects. The interface does not expose the status, URL, latency, or Location value of individual hops.
What parameters it generates in output
| Field | Meaning | Healthy result |
|---|---|---|
| Target Evaluated | The normalized starting URL. | It is the exact entry point being audited. |
| Status badge | The final HTTP code labeled OK or Error. | The ending response is expected. |
| Latency | Total request time for the followed route. | It is acceptable for the destination. |
| Redirects | The number of redirects followed by the server. | The count is no higher than intended. |
| Final Destination URL | The effective URL reached at the end. | It is the required canonical destination. |
| Header | A name from the final response header block. | Required final headers appear. |
| Value | The content of the paired final header. | It matches the expected directive. |
FAQs related to that specific tool
Does the checker list every redirect hop?
No. It exposes only the redirect count and final effective URL, not each intermediate status and Location header.
What is the longest chain it follows?
The server helper stops after a maximum of five redirects.
Does it calculate SEO link equity loss?
No. The code does not assign an SEO score or estimate ranking impact.
Why does a bare domain begin at HTTP?
Input cleanup adds http:// when no scheme is supplied.
Why can a failed request show a normal-looking chain summary?
The browser fallback constructs a synthetic 200 and HTTPS destination, so it is not trustworthy redirect evidence.
Which headers appear in the table?
Only headers parsed from the final response block are displayed.
